Camping

George and I had a "first" over Memorial Day weekend. We camped (yes, in a tent!) for three whole nights! His college crew has been camping on Ocracoke Island in the Outer Banks for 11 years. We finally joined them this year and had an absolute blast! Who knew camping could be so fun?!? I will say it takes a lot of good friends and cold beer to make it enjoyable :) Ocracoke is pretty unique; it's remote and extremely laid back with most people riding bikes or golf carts around the island. We went to the beach, rode our bikes around, checked out the cute shops and ate good food. The campsite was really fun too! It was neat to be with friends all of the time. There was always someone awake and ready to chat. I got teased because I was the first to go to bed each night. Although I was the first to bed, I can't say I got much sleep. The campground was extremely loud; people partying all hours of the night. Since we were the newbies, our tent was set up at the edge of the group spot. The campers nearby were wild. George and I were awake one night just listening to them talk. The conversations were crazy and kept me up giggling. The boys were in good hands at home with both Grandma's. We are so fortunate that CC and Me-Ma are willing to help us out so often! We thought for a couple of days that we may have to cancel our plans. Poor Drew was very, very sick the week leading up to the trip. We figured out it was pneumonia a couple of days prior and once he was given meds, he started improving right away. He wasn't 100% but CC and Me-Ma had everything under control so George and I still went on the trip. The boys were spoiled as always. Drew talked the Grandma's into a shopping trip and he also got to go see Rio in the theater.

Set up for a fun day at the beach. There aren't any houses or hotels on the beach there so folks just drive their trucks onto the sand and find a good spot.

Most of the group!

George outside of Blackbeard's museum & store. We can't wait to take Drew there sometime!

A few of the girls during our nice dinner out.

Lunch on the water.

At a bar enjoying live music and cold beer.
