Winter Wonderland!

We've had the best weekend! It started snowing on Friday evening and although it turned to sleet by the time we woke up on Saturday, there was still plenty of snow for some winter fun! Drew had a great time sledding with George and friends on Saturday while David and I stayed home and got lots of chores done. I organized the boys' clothes and pulled out the next bin for David which has been on my to-do list for quite sometime. Saturday evening we had happy hour with some friends and then enjoyed a cozy night at home as a family. Then on Sunday it was my turn to play outside with Drew and we had a blast too! Drew and I went down the hill together, fell out and Drew went face first in the snow with me landing on top. That didn't stop him from wanting to go again. We played and played and finally called it quits when Drew started asking me to carry him back up the hill. I knew he was exhausted so we came home for a big nap. George stayed home with David this time and did tons of laundry. It's amazing how much you can get done when your house bound. Schools and all other activities are closed on Monday so maybe the fun will continue...

David didn't play outside but had a good time on his play mat.
I called his name and he looked at me with this darling smile :)

Pictures From a Busy Week

It's been a busy week! I'm going to keep this short because I really, really want to go to bed before 11pm tonight and still have lots to do. We went to the Durham Life & Science Museum on Saturday with Cristie, Whitley, Asha and Eva. Cristie and I went to high school with Asha and she was in town with her daughter, Eva, and staying with Cristie. It was great to see her and we all had a nice time at the museum! Sunday we had a relaxing day at home and then watched the Saints/Vikings game! Geaux Saints! This week has been a blur filled with preschool, swim lessons, play dates and the other normal things. I have lots of photos to share...

Drew's teachers do a great job of taking photos of the kids at school and sharing them with the parents. Here's one of Drew hunting for treasures in the sand. He found one!

Music is always a big hit. Looks like Ms. Valerie brought instruments this week!

Drew gives David a kiss at the museum.

Big grin!

Drew swimming across the pool (with a little float on his back) on the last day of swim lessons. We are very proud of his progress! In this lesson, they were asked to throw the rubber ducky, swim to it, and repeat. It was cute and Drew had a blast!

David just being sweet and precious while we wait for Drew during swimming lessons.

David Loving His Jumper

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXHNv49eacw

Above is a link to see David in his jumper. I've mentioned a couple of times how much he loves it so thought I would share a video! I still can't upload videos to blogger (despite many frustrating hours and numerous attempts to contact the help administrator) so I had to use You Tube again. No password is needed.

Prom Night!

We decided to have a theme for the adults only event on Saturday night. Prom night was chosen and we all wore cheesy out-of-style attire. It was hilarious! I borrowed a terribly fabulous pink number from my friend Ashley who had it from an 80's gag party. George got a purple tux jacket on e-bay and wore it with the rest of his normal black tux. Prom started with cocktails and appetizers at the Stringers and then a shuttle took us to downtown Raleigh for dinner and dancing. We got lots of strange looks from people but after they realized what we were doing they complimented our attire and said they couldn't wait to have a similar event with friends. It really was a blast! The boys were fine at home with a sitter and she was shocked when I came out of the bedroom, simply saying, "I don't know what to think of that dress." Guess it's safe to say she won't be borrowing it for her senior prom this Spring.

Weekend With Friends

George's college friends got together over MLK weekend again this year. We are trying to recover from the many get togethers. Drew is extremely tired from missing naps and going to bed late three nights in a row, David is happy to relax at home after napping in his car seat numerous times and George and I are exhausted from prom night (pictures to come!), hosting, and staying up late. We started Friday evening with drinks at the Hickeys. The highlight of the night was Rock Band and Drew proved to be quite the musician! David was passed around and snuggled non-stop. Saturday was lunch at the LaRue's and then rockets at our house since there are more open areas around us. That part was scheduled for Sunday but rain was expected so we made time for it on Saturday. Drew was old enough this year to help George launch the rockets and was pumped to assist. Saturday night was Prom Night for the adults and babysitters for the kiddos. Sunday was brunch at our house and then more rockets. Drew had a great time playing with all of the other kids and David seemed to enjoy all of the love he got. He was the only baby so was spoiled with kisses and compliments. Nobody could believe how sweet and happy he is. His dimples were a hit too! It was a fun filled weekend and we are beat!

Little Kickers, B-day Party and More Fun!

The news on this blog is actually a week or so old. I'm trying to recall all that we did! Drew started Little Kickers, a soccer club for 3-4 year olds. He is really enjoying it! I enjoy it too since a couple of his friends are in the same class and us Moms chat on the sideline. The class is more structured that I thought it would and the kids are learning some great skills. Right now Drew is still in outer space part of the time and doesn't always listen to the coach but he has a huge smile on his face and is trying really hard. It's cute to watch! He's the youngest in the class so hopefully he'll learn some things from the older boys. Drew's swimming lessons are still going on twice a week and he is continuing to have a ball! George takes him to class and says he's really improving. I can't wait to go and see all that he's learned! Drew's best buddy, Preston, had his 3rd birthday party at the North Carolina Museum of Life & Science last Saturday and it was a blast! The kids got to touch a bunny, bird and turtle. They also did some fun crafts and got to tour the museum. I somehow became the official birthday party chauffer so George stayed home with David during the party. David loves to play and spend time in his jumper so I try not to drag him out for Drew's activities if I can help it. We went to dinner with some friends one night, I went to a really fun girls night and the boys and I went to Cristie's one day to play. I think that was about it for the week!

Preston's birthday party! Drew had a blast at the party and sings Happy Birthday so well. He can actually carry a tune, unlike his parents!

Back in the Swing of Things!

We're back to our normal routine and we're having a great week! Drew started swimming lessons on Monday and will go twice a week through January. It's nearly impossible to get into lessons in the summer around here so I went ahead and signed him up for the winter session at the YMCA. It seems to be a great program and he's already learned a few things after just two classes. Preschool started back too and although his teachers said he's been great and had a blast, he doesn't want to go when I drop him off. It's pitiful! The whole way to school he begs me to come in with him and watch him play. He did a little bit of this before the holidays too and I was hoping it wouldn't continue. His teachers say it's just part of being a three year old and testing the boundaries, etc. Part of me feels sorry for him and almost turns the car around to take him home. The other part of me is annoyed because I know he loves it once I leave and his ploys are just a waste of everyone's time. And by "everyone" I mean mine, the preschool director who awaits the kids outside in the drop off line and any other parent who is behind us in line (luckily we're always running late so we're usually the last one). Today the director and I had to chase him around the parking lot while he hid from us. Then he opened the car door and ran to the back of the van as another hiding spot. Ugh! I sure hope this is just another phase! Tomorrow Drew starts Little Kickers, a soccer program. A couple of his buddies are in the same class so we should have a good time with that. David continues to be a sweetie! He laughs a lot and loves to spend time in his jumper. He's eating rice cereal and starting to like it a little more. He's taking a couple of really good naps during the day instead of a few cat naps which is nice. Sometimes he and Drew even sleep at the same time and I get a few minutes to catch up on housework or something else fun like that :) Here's some pictures from the week so far.

We watched the Liberty Bowl with some friends over the weekend and Drew loved playing with Zoe, a sweet four and a half year old. In this picture she is measuring Drew's head like at the doctor.

Hiding in the tent...again! It was so cute that they would ask me to zip them in the tent and then say, "okay, find us!" I would then have to roam around the room acting like I didn't know where they were and then look surprised to find them in the tent for the 20th time!
Drew at "swimming school."

David loves his jumper. Too bad he can't ever play in it without Drew feeling the need to show him the bells and whistles or in this case give him a sweet kiss :)
Sweetie pie!

Happy Twenty Ten!

George and I before the NYE party. I look like a Saints super fan in my black and gold :)
LOVE those glasses!

Happy New Year perfect David!

Happy New Year sweet and funny Drewby!

Happy 2010! Another year flies by! Heck, the past decade flew by. It's crazy to think that ten years ago I was a carefree college kid. Since then I've met George, moved four times (five, if you count moving into Ward's post Katrina), had three jobs, had two beautiful children and settled into a wonderful family life. We were so blessed in 2009 and hope 2010 treats us just as well! We rung in the New Year with great friends at our neighbors' home. It was nice to walk to and from the party. George's Mom and her friend Carol came to watch the boys which was very sweet. There wasn't a sitter to be found since the whole neighborhood needed one so thanks to Judy we were able to go. Happy New Year! Wishing you health and happiness in 2010!
