More beach pictures

I wanted to share a few more photos from the beach trip...
Taking a ride on the neighbors' Dallas Cowboys-themed golf cart. Daddy, Cristie and Whitley are in the front and Tom, Drew and I were in the back. Heavy load!

Dad and daughter time on the golf course. Fun in the sprinkler!

Whitley and I. She fell asleep on my shoulder a few minutes later. So sweet!
Drew and Whitley discuss their plans for the day. Looks like getting lots of hugs and kisses from Day Day and CC is on the agenda again!
"Get out of that chair so I can reach you!!!" Day Day got that cute shirt for Drew so they could wear their "California" shirts together :)

Beach Baby!!!

Day Day and Drew wear sun hats.
Switcheroo :) Drew thought that was one of the funniest things he's seen!
Tickle, tickle, tickle! Drew loved tickling Whitley. They get a kick out of each other and Drew only upset her a few times.
Drew went blond at the beach.
Drewby playing with the many inside toys we had as well.
This photo cracks me up! Drew slept with my parents one night and woke up totally soaked. His clothes were in my room and sweet Mommy didn't want to wake me so dressed him in her tank top and secured the straps with a hair clip! Ha ha ha!!!! When I woke up they were returning from a walk and he was sitting in the stroller in that "outfit!" Funny stuff!

CC and Drewby!
Whitley, Day Day, Drewby and I.
Drew enjoying an Italian Ice on the beach. Talk about a mess!!

We are back from the family beach vacation and concluded that Drew is a HUGE beach lover!!! It is amazing how much he loves the sand, waves, pool, people and all the other fun things that go along with a beach trip. He just couldn't get enough! I have to say that it was the most exhausting week of my life! George only stayed for the weekend and then came back home to work so I was left to chase Drewby for a few more days. My parents were a huge help and it took all of us to keep up with Drew's running and playing. He chased a beach ball for miles, observed fish and crabs in a bucket, ate an Italian Ice beach side, made a racetrack for his beach trucks on the cooler, played in the sprinkler when we returned to the house, ran from side to side while the adults attempted to play Ladderball without him grabbing all the balls, took a ride in a golf cart, stopped for maybe 3 minutes to inhale a hot dog... and that was all in one day! I can't begin to share details of the rest of the week because it's too tiring to even think about! To sum it up, we all had a wonderful time and enjoyed the great food, many drinks (oops!), fun games (I am the Cornhole champ!) and quality family time! We are already looking forward to next year!

Day Day and CC are here!

Drew playing with his automobiles on the porch. He likes to line them all up and then steer them off the table. Then he yells something that sounds like "Kapowee!!!"
Sportin' purple and gold! LSU hat and ECU shirt. Too cute!
Yummy dessert at Dairy Queen.

Day Day is here! Let the rough housing begin!!! Look how long Drew is!
More fun with Day Day! Nice bruises, huh?
Mom and Dad arrived yesterday evening and Drew was thrilled to see them! He is really showing the love to Day Day and wants to sit in his lap, give him non-stop hugs, show him all of his toys, and pretty much just be with him non-stop. Mom and Dad left today for Myrtle Beach and we're going to meet them there this weekend for a family vacation. Fun! George will have to come back for work but Drew and I are planning to stay the whole week. Cristie, Tom and Whitley will be there too.
My Mom has been working on a "Grandmother Book" since Drew was born. It's like a scrapbook journal and is filled with details on her childhood, family, marriage, places she's lived, and lots of other fun things. She finished it and brought it with her on this trip. It is SO special and I loved looking at every single thing in it last night. It is a wonderful keepsake for Drew, Whitley and all of us! Thanks Mom!

Books and more books!

Drew catching up on some reading.
Eeeewwwww!! Snot on the door! My day wouldn't be complete if I didn't Windex that door anyway.
Taking a break from the U.S. Open for some giggles!

Video clip of Drew reading to George.
Drew has been his usual fun self the past few days! I took him to the pool Friday afternoon and he had a ball. The water was finally warm enough for him to enjoy it and he took full advantage of that. He loved jumping in from the side into my arms. He didn't mind being dunked at all and came up laughing every time! George met us at the pool after work and we stayed til 7:30pm. Dinner time came and went but that didn't bother Drew. We had to drag him home!
George enjoyed Father's Day and had lots of fun with Drewby. They watched Shrek III and the U.S. Open. It made me feel even more guilty for lying to the pediatrician last Thursday when I told him Drew hardly ever watches TV. I knew that's what he wanted to hear so I fibbed a bit. Come on, what parent can get anything done in peace without the help of the TV??? Putting Drew in front of the TV is the only thing that keeps him from wandering around when I need to do something. Heaven forbid I use the bathroom without worrying that Drew has climbed the stairs and is getting ready to jump off the balcony! In all seriousness, on a typical day he watches an episode of Curious George and maybe Sesame Street!

18 Month Check-up

Drew climbing into one of the chairs in the waiting room. He's got that down pat.
Deciding which chair to climb into next. Hmmm. Decisions, decisions. Waiting for the Doctor to arrive. Drew loved jumping up and down in the blue squares. He's holding a page of a book. He ripped it out when I turned around for two seconds to get a tissue.

Drew is 18 months old today and I really can't believe it. Where did the time go? I've been looking forward to his 18 month check-up for a couple of weeks. I was eager to ask the Doctor about Drew's recent picky eating habits and tantrums (although they aren't frequent, just one is enough to make me consider going back to work!). The good news and bad news? Drew's no different from any other child his age and I just have to deal with it. The doctor said some tots refuse to eat anything besides bread and hotdogs. I was reassured to hear that as long as Drew drinks plenty of milk and eats at least one good meal a day I don't have anything to worry about. Plus, his growth chart proves he's not hurting in the size department! He's 30 lbs and 34" tall so remained in the 90th percentile. When we arrived at the appointment he was pleased to get a Scooby Doo sticker and proceeded to test out all of the chairs in the waiting room. The wait time was only about 90 seconds but I'm pretty sure he made his way around to each and every chair! He sat very still during the exam and was super brave during shot time. I sang him the ABC's to distract him and then the red Crayola band aid made his day!

Beach Weekend

Drew eating his third piece of blueberry pound cake. He enjoys my baking almost as much as George.
Drew scoping out shells at the beach.
Finally wearing a hat!

Are we there yet???

Seriously, are we there yet? Thanks to a detour on I-95 our short trip to the beach took 4 hours. Drew didn't sleep as planned (my plan, clearly not his) so it wasn't fun! That's the last time we travel at night assuming Drew will sleep.

Drew wearing Daddy's shades on the trip home. He was in a much better mood this time! I even drove for a little while and George played with Drew in the backseat.

We went to Myrtle Beach for a quick getaway this weekend. The weather was scorching hot but their was a nice breeze at the beach so we were surprisingly comfortable. We took a baby pool to the beach to keep Drew cool and it was a hit! George wasn't as excited about it since it took almost an hour to fill it up with the small bucket I brought! Drew absolutely loved the beach! He walked up and down the shore picking shells. He only liked holding one in each hand so when he came across a shell he liked he would look at the ones he had and decide which one to drop and replace with the new shell. He was also fascinated with the advertising airplanes (I'm sure there is a real name for those but I can't think of it) and parasailors. He didn't get sunburned at all but George and I were so concerned with protecting his skin that we came home looking like lobsters. Silly us! On the way home we swung by Wendy's (and Taco Bell but that's because George wanted both. Disgusting, I know!). The line was so long at Wendy's so the cashier apologized for the delay when we pulled around. She said they were short-staffed and things were "wild inside." George replied with "things are wild in here too. I'm hauling dangerous cargo - an attack dog and an angry body builder." She had a look of confusion on her face but then George rolled down the window and the cashier busted out laughing when she saw Bailey and Drewby! I guess her laughter scared them because Bailey starting barking like crazy and Drew started screaming. George jinxed us! Neither of them calmed down so we switched the seating arrangements and I drove in the front with Bailey and George played with Drew in the backseat. The rest of the ride was very nice and I got to sneak peaks in the rear view mirror of George's creative ways to keep Drew entertained! Drew's favorite is when George puts his sunglasses above his eyes and then they fall to their proper place when he wiggles his nose.

Show Day!

Playing at Chick-Fil-A today.
Drew chews on the bar at the Little Gym. I'm sure the other parents loved that considering their kids are getting ready to hang on it!
Class picture! A couple of kids didn't want to sit still for the photo. I was surprised Drew stayed because he's usually the one that runs off. Guess he was too busy chewing his medal. I'll be so glad when his canines come in, they are taking forever!

Drew and his classmates with bubbles at the Little Gym. Yes, that is Drew you hear making all of that noise! I'm not sure what he said but it was probably something like "Ooooh! Look at all of these bubbles. Good thing my sister Bailey isn't here or she would eat them and we wouldn't have any to play with."
Today was "Show Day" at the Little Gym. It was the final week so Drew showed off all of his favorite skills. Then he climbed the stairs to a podium and got his very own medal! He was pretty excited about that! We celebrated with lunch at Chick-Fil-A and then came home for a much-needed nap.

Dancing!

Drew's first prom picture!
Lauren and I at her dance.
Drew gets more mail!

A video of Drew with another music card from CC and Day Day! I love his little smirk! He even asks "What's that?" at the end of the video. He asks that question non-stop! As we read books, he repeats "What's that?" while pointing at each and every little thing on the page. While going down aisles at Target he repeats "What's that?" to everything he lays eyes on. It's so precious!

We had a really fun weekend! Drew and I went to the pool Friday afternoon and ran into his friend Preston and his Mom. The two boys split dinner there so we were able to stay even longer than planned. Chasing Drewby around the pool must have wore me out because I fell asleep on the couch at 8pm when George went to put Drew down. I slept till 8am Saturday morning so I guess I needed to catch up on some Z's! It felt great! Drew and I went to Lauren's (the sweet girl next door) "prom" Saturday afternoon for a little while. She is finishing preschool and starting Kindergarten so they had a dance at her school to celebrate. She really wanted Drew and I to go and we were glad we did! Drew was such a ladies man! At one point he had four darling 5 year old girls hugging and kissing him! He loved every second of it. He and I danced and I taught him the Cupid Shuffle! You know I don't miss a chance to shake my tail feather - even if I was the oldest person on the dance floor by 23 years! The dancing continued Saturday night when we went out with some neighbors. We took a party van to downtown Raleigh and had a wonderful meal and then went dancing. I haven't danced at a club in a really long time. It only made me want to do it more often! On Sunday I went to see Sex and the City with Cristie. I loved the movie and cried twice. What's the matter with me? It's Sex and the City for goodness sake! We snuck in three super-sized boxes of Raisinets - I couldn't ask for a better Sunday afternoon!
