Still Summer...

Summer continues! I'm not complaining but the last month or so has gone by kind of slow. The boys and I stay plenty busy but I am looking forward to preschool starting so we can get back into a routine. Drew has had some play dates and he has soccer on Fridays. There have been some cooler days so we've been playing outside a bit too. David still naps twice a day and he eats a ton so I feel like much of his day is spent in the bed or high chair! When he's hungry, he goes to the fridge, opens it and starts grabbing whatever is in his reach. George and I have stepped up our training for an upcoming sprint triathlon so that is keeping us busy too. I'm actually doing a relay with a friend so I only have to do the bike and run. My swimming is pathetic so I am happy not to do that portion. Maybe next year. Speaking of swimming, Drew started jumping off of the diving board and going down the water slide at the pool! You have to be able to swim to the side of the pool in order to do it so we are very proud of him! He is beyond thrilled and went down the slide at least 20 times on Friday night. He has to climb a ton of stairs to get to the top so you can imagine how wiped he is after that! David loves to watch Drew come down the slide and is content to wait, smile and flap his arms with excitement!
My cuties having fun together!
Drew and some of his friends watching a movie. Blake and Katelyn looked at the camera but Peter and Drew smiled without taking their eyes off of Monsters Inc.

It was Leslie's birthday so we made cupcakes and surprised her when she came to pick up Peter. It was really fun and the kids loved an impromptu party!

This cracked me up! David loves to dig through my purse and does it multiple times a day. He usually has a blast destroying my coupon book but this time he decided to write a check. I can't remember the last time I even used a check so I'm not sure how he knew about it!

Whitley came over during Cristie and Tom's school open house. The kids had fun playing, coloring and watching a movie.

Drew spent hours playing with this box. He took it from his closet and asked me for some "decorations." He used stickers, markers, crayons, stamps, return address labels, posters, and tape, tape, tape. When I asked him to smile he just stuck his tongue out. Ridiculous!

Mini Musicians

We've had a fun week and a half since my last post. It seems that many of our days have involved music of some kind. George and I went to the Zac Brown Band concert last week. It was a blast! Some friends joined us and so did my cousin Stephen. Drew is really into singing and and dancing and constantly asks for me to turn on the ipod so he can "put on a concert." He's precious and knows the lyrics to quite a few songs! I joke that he gets his dance moves from me...he's pretty good! Most evenings we turn on music while getting dinner ready and have a wonderful time dancing as a family. Drew's current favorite tunes are "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crew and "Sic 'em on a Chicken" by the Zac Brown Band but he will dance to just about anything. David loves music too and especially loves to watch and laugh at Drewby.

George, me and our huge hot beers.
Sweet cousin Stephen!
David and his friend Anneka playing the drums.
Trying out and tasting another instrument!
Drew belting out some tunes on the porch.

David's turn!

Usher was on Good Morning America so we just had to crank it up and dance. I have been an Usher fan since high school and still dig is music and moves! Drew was trying so hard to imitate Usher's moves. Watch at your own risk - may cause motion sickness.

Happy 1st Birthday Perfect David!

Our darling baby boy is 1!!! He continues to be ridiculously cute and sweet! His smile lights up a room and I can't take him anywhere without strangers commenting on his many dimples. He isn't walking yet but that doesn't stop him from being on the go. His new favorite move is to race for the stairs, climb up halfway, stand up, peer through the railings, bounce up and down and laugh! He finally got a tooth the week before his birthday and a 2nd one is coming in too. We celebrated David's special day with a family birthday party on Saturday. It was a great time! We enjoyed catching up with so many relatives and we ate till we were sick! We bought one of those huge water slides recently so we set that up for Drew and Whitley. David stayed busy being the center of attention and just looking irresistibly cute! He had a fun day and looooooved his birthday cake! He definitely put the "smash" in "smash cake." Oh my goodness, there was cake everywhere! Thank you to everyone for making David's first birthday such a memorable one! We love you!

Drew and I decorating David's cake.

I'll eat the hat too!

Don't take it away!

Serious Playtime!

We had a fun and playful week. We went to the park, the pool and also played a lot at home both in and outside. CC and Day Day arrived on Thursday for a short visit. We are celebrating David's first birthday on Saturday and they were sweet enough to fly in! I can't believe David will be one already (boo hoo) but more on that in a future post. Here's some pictures of the boys playing this week...

Drew playing with a baby doll at Whitley's house. You can't see it here, but he's feeding the baby a bottle. Drew doesn't play dolls very often of course so I always get a kick out of watching him do it. He was the Daddy and took the baby on lots of walks and gave her many, many bottles. He wasn't big on changing her diaper; he's got the Daddy thing down :) Just kidding, George actually does more than his fair share of diaper changes around here.
Drew thinks diapers are soooo funny. Here he is showing me the baby's diaper while laughing.

CC reads books to Drew and Whitley.
David passing toys to Day Day...
... And taking them back.
David got an early birthday present from CC and Day Day. It's a big hit!

Drew gets in on the action too of course.

I taped the boys having a blast one morning. Drew was being a pirate that gets hurt in a fight and falls down. David thought it was hysterical. I just love his laugh! Excuse the tacky bin of toys. I was in the middle of pulling some out of the attic.
