16 Weeks and Counting!

It's Friday already and I just realized I haven't done a post in a week. Oops! George, Drew and I went to an appointment on Monday to check on Baby Davis again. He or she is doing well and we enjoyed hearing the heartbeat again. It was the dreaded 16 week appointment so we were more than excited and relieved to hear that all is well! Drew was hilarious at the appointment! He knew exactly where we were and announced that we were there to see "Mama's doctor" as soon as we entered the waiting area. Of course all of the other patients thought he was adorable since most of them are awaiting the arrival of a new bundle of joy and a toddler talking is one of life's sweetest sounds! When the Doctor put the doppler on my belly and we heard the heartbeat Drew looked at me and explained that the "Baby is talking on the phone." Pretty creative! Since Monday we have been talking about the baby a lot more and Drew seems to get it. He has kissed my belly a few times and said hi to the baby. He got a little scared on Tuesday when I left him in my room by himself for a minute. He was really quiet so I yelled to the other room to see what he was doing. He replied with "I'm reading a book." That sounded innocent enough. But then I heard him say, "Mama, Mama, book scare me, book scare me!!!" so I hurried in there and found him looking at a pregnancy book opened to a page with some pretty real photos. Uh oh! He was right to be scared and I told him I was scared too! He hasn't opened the book since. We did our usual activities this week, going to the library and Winter Wiggles. We also played outside with some friends and went to the park since the weather cooperated a couple of days. Then Judy arrived on Thursday and Drew was super excited about that! George and I went to dinner and then a hockey game while Drew and his Grandma had a fun night at home. Now it's Friday and we're looking forward to spending the weekend with Judy and hopefully getting together with the Watson's as well.
Drew and the girls next door wearing Mardi Gras beads. What a cheap thrill that was!
Drew kicking the soccer ball around with George. He loves to run, run, run so we took him to the nearby high school and he and George played soccer for a while. Then we went in the stands and watched the girls' team play a scrimmage. Drew enjoyed it but then discovered that climbing up and down the bleachers was much more fun! After doing that for a bit, we headed home for Drew's much-needed nap.

Arriving at the park and looking for our friends.

Drew and Katelyn.

Drew and Katelyn help Blake collect Sycamore balls from the park. That kept them entertained for the longest time!
George and I at the Carolina Hurricanes hockey game. A friend gave us front row seats! I thought it was a little scary and squealed every time the players hit the glass. Those guys are a lot bigger and angrier looking up close!

Yet another week is flying by at the Davis household. Sunday we had a relaxing day and took a nice long family walk. Bailey has got to lose some weight before her annual appointment in a couple of weeks so we dragged her along too. Anytime we slowed down she attempted to jump in the stroller but we wouldn't let her. Sunday evening Drew and I went to a birthday party for his friend Livi. He had a good time playing with the other kids and eating two servings of ice cream. He was so good when she opened her presents. I thought he was going to lose it when she got a darling Barbi bicycle but he just said "Wow, big cycle!" and moved on. On Monday I watched Whitley and our day just flew by. Having her and Drew is very easy since they keep each other entertained. It was fun! Then I went to book club on Monday night where we discussed The Shack. It was only my second time attending Cristie's book club (she was so sweet to include me) but I think I'm addicted! I went to the library first thing Tuesday morning to get the next book and I'm already almost finished. After Toddler Time at the library on Tuesday we kept with our tradition of playing and eating at McDonald's with our friends. It didn't take Drew long to pick up on our schedule because while I was checking out our books he started cheering "Come on friends, eat cheeseburgers!!!" It was embarrassing and hysterical at the same time. On Wednesday we went to Winter Wiggles where Drew continues to amaze me. As soon as we sat down he looked at the teacher and said "Circle song and then puppet show. Yay!!!" Those are two of the activities we do and the circle song comes first. As I've mentioned before, he doesn't forget a thing! He and I went to Jason's Deli after Winter Wiggles because I was craving their salad bar. Drew kept the other diners entertained with his non-stop talking. He said goodbye to almost everyone when we left by saying "Bye bye friends. I am a fireman!" He was wearing his fireman raincoat which is so darn cute! Today we had some friends over to play and eat lunch. The kids are 4 and 6 so Drew thought he was big time hanging with the older crowd. A babysitter is coming in a little bit because it's Bunco night and George is out of town. I'm sure Drew will be thrilled to see the sitter, the fun just never stops for him! I can't wait for George to get back! He traveled two weeks in a row and in addition to simply missing him, it's exhausting not having his help in the evenings. I'm looking forward to a nice, quiet weekend with him and Drew.

Sweet Valentines!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day! It started off great with George and I sleeping till 8:30 and Drew sleeping till 9:10am! What could be better than that? Then we went to Aunt Mary's to make Valentine cookies with Cristie and Whitley. What fun! Drew brought her tulips which she loved! We practiced saying "Happy Valentine's Day Mae Mae" but when she opened the door he was too excited to recite it and just barged in! Making cookies with Drew and Whitley was so fun! Drew loved using the cookie cutters, I think that was his favorite part. He did a really good job too, being very careful to space them out just right. Drew wasn't quite as interested in icing the cookies so after just doing a couple of them he started playing with Uncle Ralph and cousin Stephen. They played guitar, drums, and spent a lot of time sitting in their boat in the garage. It was cute! Drew remembers going on the boat with them last summer so anytime I talk about Aunt Mary or Uncle Ralph he says "Mae Mae take me on boat?" and I have to explain that it's Winter. Needless to say, we are really excited about getting an invite this Spring! After we finished the cookies Mae Mae took Drew on a walk to the pond and they looked for fish and threw rocks in the water - huge fun for Drew! Mae Mae promised to get Drew a fishing pole and I hate to tell her that he talked about it the rest of the afternoon and evening. He doesn't forget a thing! He went to bed saying "Mae Mae and the fishing hole (hole is pole to him)." He'll be looking for it next time we're there! Drew was ready for a big nap when we got home and after that George, Drew and I delivered Drew's Valentine's treats to his friends and then went to the mall. We weren't there long because it was a madhouse! I swear it wasn't that busy at Christmas. After putting Drew to bed George and I had a lovely dinner at home. It was such a special Valetine's day, spending it with my sweeties! Here's some pictures from Mae Mae's...

Getting ready to leave for Mae Mae's. Drew's hair is out of control! I don't want to cut it but I guess I'll have to.

Drew is serious about the cookie cutters! He was quite the perfectionist.

Row, Row, Row Your Boat!

Drew is really into singing songs lately (mostly thanks to CC who practiced with him a lot while she was here!). His two favorites are "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." I tried to get some of the singing on video but as usual he didn't totally cooperate. The videos are still cute though! I love how he sings songs all of the time now. For instance, today we were counting at Winter Wiggles and he started singing "1, 2, 3 strikes your OUT" ("out" is said really loudly and with tons of enthusiasm!) and then he saw a toy pirate ship at a friends house today and he started singing "Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily."

We've had a busy week so far. Monday we all went to my appointment to check on Baby Davis. We heard the heartbeat right away, what a thrill! Drew loved talking to the Doctor and told him to "fix Mama." I guess he got that from me saying that I have to fix things when I am helping him while he's sick. It was cute. Tuesday we went to the library and met some friends there. We all went to McDonald's to play and eat afterwards and had a good time. Then after our nap (yep, you read that correctly. I'm still napping too!) Drew took advantage of the nice weather by riding his new car again. Today we took George to the airport and then did some shopping before going to Winter Wiggles. We went to Chick-Fil-A with our friends Alison and Logan after that and then needed a long nap to recover from our busy morning. When we woke up Drew asked to take McQueen for a ride (again!) so off we went. We ran into our neighbors who invited us over for dinner since George is out of town. We got home just in time for Drew's bedtime. What a busy day! Hope you like the videos...

Family Fun!

I mentioned in my last post that we had a great few days when I got back home and Day Day arrived. We spent a lot of time at Cristie's and also had a fun day with the Lindsey's, our cousins from Virginia. The highlight of Drew's weekend was getting a brand new Dodge Viper from Day Day! He's only had his F-150 a few months but that didn't stop a doting Grandfather from getting him a new ride! It goes without saying that Drew loves the new car! He thinks it's Lighting McQueen from Cars since it's all red and begs me to "Take Queen Ride!" non-stop. Fortunately, the weather has been beautiful so we've been able to ride it. We took it on two long rides today and Drew was pretty popular with his neighborhood friends. At least eight kids took a test drive. It's a two-seater, unlike his truck, so he can have passengers. It even has a working radio and us Mom's got a huge laugh today when we turned around and saw a dozen kids dancing along side the car. Good times! Here are a few pictures from our weekend, as well as some that CC took while I was gone...
Sweet cousins kiss!
Drew annoys cousin Melanie's kitten! CC and Drew went to see her swanky apartment and lucky for Drew, Melanie got a kitten recently. Mom said Drew looked for that kitty all over and played peek-a-boo with it. I bet that cat hopes Drew isn't invited over again anytime soon!

CC and Drew's first trip alone to McDonalds. They both love to eat there :)

Pushing his favorite cart at Harris Teeter.

Day Day shows Drew his new red Dodge Viper!!!

Drew loves to rough house! He especially likes Bev, probably because he and Day Day look a lot alike.

CC, Cristie, Whitley and Drew dance to a singing Valentine's puppy from CC. Drew is wearing Whitley's pants because he ate so much for dinner that I couldn't button his. I think he looks darling in striped leggings :)

A Relaxing Vacation

Our trip to Park City, Utah was even better than I anticipated. I was worried that I would be bored since I wasn't skiing. Boy, was I wrong. I realized that doing nothing makes the time fly by! I spent my days lounging at the heated indoor pool, reading books, and even had a facial. Our friends Mike and Suzanne joined us and one day Suzanne didn't ski so I had company at the pool. George also took a break from snowboarding one day since he was going to be there all week so he and I hung out. It was such a relaxing trip and I really enjoyed it. Three of George's friends joined him after I left and they had a fun few days. They even got the fresh powder they were hoping for after a few days of unseasonably warm weather. Of course I missed Drew very much while I was gone but four nights was much easier to handle than the seven I was gone on our ski trip last year. Drew was in great hands with CC while I was gone and they had tons of fun together! She said he didn't ask for George and I at all. Although that kind of hurts my feelings I've very glad that he didn't miss us too much :) I will post some pictures of their time together when CC sends them to me. My Dad arrived on Wednesday shortly after I landed and we've had a great few days! I'll do another blog shortly about all the fun we had. For now, it's back to just George, Drew, Bailey and I and George and I are relaxing on the couch catching up on our recorded tv shows.
A couple of days before I left for Park City I went to see Whitley because she wasn't feeling well and brought her some cooking essentials for her new play kitchen. She thought the hat was so silly!
Then we realized that she really thought it was silly when I wore it :)
Suzanne and I outside of a book store in Park City where she bought Twilight. I talked her into reading it and sure hope she likes it. I can't imagine anyone not loving it!

George and I at our favorite restaurant in Park City, The Flying Sumo.

Sweet, sweet hugs from my sweetie when I got home!

He was repeating "Mama" real slow and holding on to me so tight. It was the best hug ever!
