Videos for Day Day!

The windows to the porch were open and Drew thought it was so funny to be on the other side of the screen from me.
Peek-a-boo Mommy!

Short clip of Drew kissing Bailey. I love the way Bailey walks off, she looks so annoyed!

Drew laughing at Daddy making funny faces!

My Dad was pouting because I haven't uploaded any videos to the blog lately. Hope you enjoyed them Dad Day! Love you!

Happy Meal!

Mom, would you cut it out with the photos? I'm trying to enjoy my burger.
Drew, want some fries to go with that ketchup?
Is it me or does my boy look about 5 years old in that top picture?!? Maybe it's his new do. His hair quickly became out of control when the heat and humidity kicked in so I cut it over the weekend. George and I couldn't figure out a way to keep him still so decided to try the bathtub. It worked! Drew played with his bath toys while I snipped chunks of hair the few times he wasn't moving his head. We were laughing and trying to figure out where to take him to fix it when it dried and we realized it didn't look half bad!
Drew and I worked up an appetite at The Little Gym this morning so decided to hit McDonald's on the way home. It was actually McCafe, whatever that means. The setting was a little nicer but there wasn't a playground. What the heck? I will say the high chairs were squeaky clean which is a rarity for any place, even our own home. Each one was covered with a place mat, topped with a bag of cookies and then wrapped in Saran Wrap.
It was really hot yesterday so I took Drew to the pool for a couple of hours. I kind of felt like I was playing hooky. Usually my days are so busy that it really does feel like "work" so it was strange to just lounge at the pool on a Tuesday.

A Loooong weekend!

Do I look cool in Mommy's shades?Am I cute or what?
Stylin'! I brought a few hats to the pool and this is all that would work. As soon as he notices a hat is on his head, he pulls it off. I had to put the cap on backwards so he wouldn't see the visor part. It didn't cover his face but at least it kept the top of his head from getting sunburned.
We had such a fun Memorial Day weekend but we're so exhausted. We only planned to get together with some friends Saturday evening but the rest of the weekend filled up too. We had dinner out Friday night which ended badly. Drew and I left the restaurant early because he broke ugly. In his defense the waitress just started working there that day and we were her first table! The luck! Anyway, it took forever to get the food and Drew was irritable and tired. George must have felt bad that I had to leave a meal and cold beer behind so he came home with flowers and a movie and we enjoyed the rest of the evening. Saturday we took a family trip to the mall for more house stuff. I swear it never ends! Every time I check one thing off the list I end up adding another. We got new display towels for our bathroom but now we need a new bathmat- ugh! We had dinner with our neighborhood friends Saturday night and Drew had a blast playing with his buddies. We got up Sunday and decided to hit the pool for the first time. Well, let me re-phrase that... Drew and I got up and decided to hit the pool and woke George up at 10am to tell him we were leaving. He didn't want to miss the fun so came with us. What fun it was! Drew wasn't a huge fan of the water because it was still chilly but loved playing with the water toys and playing with the other kids. We ate lunch poolside which Drew thought was cool. We ran into some neighbors at the pool and decided to get together for dinner Sunday night as well. I was in charge of food for the kiddies so I had it easy this time around. Luckily they don't mind eating hotdogs two days in a row! We were really dragging this morning but Drew and I managed to take a long walk and he slept the whole time. We ate dinner with some friends this evening and since they don't have kids it was hard to keep Drew entertained at their house. I brought a few things and he stayed busy for quite a while but then he spotted coasters on the coffee table. He just had to have them! They weren't breakable but I still didn't want him slinging them around the house. Overall, he was good and remained a trooper even when his bedtime came and went. He came up to me right at 8pm and hugged and kissed me which is his way of saying he's ready for bed. So sweet! One of the girls there was pregnant and wanted to hold him so he went to her but then busted out in tears! I felt so bad for both of them. Tears started flowing down Drew's face immediately and his bottom lip was quivering like crazy. He was just tired and wanted me but everyone made fun of her. It was pretty funny to see a pregnant woman be rejected by a baby. We got home not too long ago and we're all pooped! Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Recent Photos

Drew loves showering like a grown up!
Picture from above. Drew was waiting for George to get in and wash his hair but we were too busy taking photos!
Drew playing at the mall play area. I took a dozen photos and this is the best!
Pretty sad I know but he was running full speed so the rest are of the back of his head! Drew having a blast with t-ball (using a soccer ball obviously!) at our neighbors. He couldn't find the softball but didn't care a bit. Drew loved putting the ball on the stand. He must have done it 50 times! I'm buying a t-ball set ASAP!
Preston, Stella and Drew (all just a couple of days apart in age) walking along the fire pit at our neighbors' house. It was just put in and the babies were fascinated with it! Preston got something on his pants and instead of changing him we just left him in his diaper. After all, chunky baby legs are so cute and don't last forever!

Yummy Enchiladas!

Drew eating the nasty part of the watermelon.
Drew and I doing what we do best, shopping at Target!
Drew loved the popcorn although he dropped two kernels for every one he ate.
Clean-up needed on aisles 2-17 asap!
We went out to a Mexican place for lunch today. Drew is thinking,
" These enchiladas are pretty good." I'm thinking, "Did I really forget a bib?"
"Mom, do I have some on my face?"
"Mmmm, so yummy!"
"One more bite, I can do it."
Food coma.

A couple of days ago I was worried because Drew wasn't eating much. All of my friends with kids said not to worry about it because kids go through stages like that but I couldn't help myself. You can tell by his size that he could stand to miss a meal or two but I was still frustrated that he wouldn't eat. He snapped out of it yesterday and is making up for lost calories! We went to lunch today and I couldn't believe how much he ate! He shoveled in refried beans and enchiladas until he fell asleep on the table. Poor guy! We did have a busy morning playing at home and then going to story time at the library. Drew got a library card and picked out three books of his own! One of them was Big Boys Use the Potty. After what he ate at lunch today I wish he would use the potty because I have a feeling the next diaper change isn't going to be pretty! We have awhile to go before potty training so I put that book back and he picked out a firetruck book instead. Much more his style!

Whitley, wake up please :)

Cristie and Whitley came over today before we went shopping. Drew did his best to wake up Whitley...

After successfully waking her up, Drew tickled Whitley, talked to her and even pointed out a couple of her car seat toys to her just in case she hadn't noticed them!

We had a really fun weekend. We had a few families from the neighbohood over last night for dinner, games and fun. A couple of kids brought over tons of bubble accessories and a bubble machine. Drew and Bailey were in hog heaven! The adults stayed up till after 1am on our porch chatting and playing cards. Word on the street is we were pretty loud. Oops! Cristie and Whitley came by today and then the three of us girls went to the mall. I got to hold and love on Whitley the whole time!

Drew's got mail!

Drew got a card from CC & Day Day today! They enjoyed watching him with Mom's music Mother's Day card so got him his own music card. It's the perfect one since it plays "what I like about you...you really know how to dance!" I took a video of him opening it. I know it's a little long but I was waiting for him to dance. You're probably wondering why he is wearing shoes with no shorts. Well, he just woke up from a nap and wanted his shoes on right away. Guess he thought he was going outside. I love Bailey's expression during the video! She looks scared that Drew is going to kick her or fall on her.

Have a great weekend!

"Carck"

Drew loves sitting at the table. He wants to eat there, play there or just hang out there!
He's making his cute truck noises in this photo.

Drew finishes his 75th lap around the kitchen and living room!
Just a picture to show how tall Drew has gotten. He couldn't reach the doorknobs a couple of weeks ago.
Drew and I at The Little Gym.
Drew eats bubbles at The Little Gym. The rest of the birds wonder what he's doing. Thanks a lot Bailey!

We're having a nice week so far. Judy stayed a couple of days and left yesterday. We enjoyed her company as always! We played outside for awhile last night and Drew imitated everything the older kids were doing. If one picked up a rock, he picked up a rock. If they threw it, he threw his and so on. It was quite precious! I guess he's heavy into the monkey-see, monkey-do stage. Drew has also become a little motor mouth :) He babbles non-stop. Reading books to him has gotten even more fun because he points to things he recognizes and "talks" about them. I'm pretty sure he thinks everything on four legs is a dog. He also thought a flying insect was a bird but that must be confusing to him so I said "good job!" He didn't even finish his milk last night before bedtime because he kept taking it out of his mouth to help me read Even Firefighters Hug Their Moms which is one of my favorite books by the way! There is a dog and truck in that one so he was busy! I taught him the word "car" and he combined truck and car to form his own word - "carck." Guess he thought that was easier. Oh well. I worked on Drew's baby book last night because I've gotten so far behind on that. How do people do it with baby #2 or #3? It's hard enough with one kid. Drew has gotten so many teeth lately and I couldn't remember the correct dates to use. I had to look at old photos for help. It's not perfect but hopefully I was close.

Happy Mother's Day!

Drew wants down but it's a nice photo otherwise.
The chef!
Drew watches his balloon rise to the ceiling.
The Mom's!
Drew kisses and hugs Whitley!
Sisters!
Drew gets smooched!
Day Day protects us from a rain storm with the HUGE deck umbrella while leaving Cristie's.
Day Day thought it was soooo funny and Drew didn't know what to think!
Drew in our redneck pool! We copied my neighbor's idea and Drew loved it!
Happy Mother's Day to all of the Mom's and Mom's-to-be that read this!!! We celebrated with a fun-filled weekend and I hope you had a wonderful one as well! Daddy was here for a few days (Mom was already here) and Judy came today. Cristie, Tom and Whitley came over and we all enjoyed a nice meal before Mom and Dad had to fly back home. Boo hoo! The highlight of our day was when my Mom opened a music Mother's Day card from Daddy and Drew danced to "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch." He twirled until he fell down from dizziness and then got back up and did it again and again and again. He's quite the dancer! Must get his moves from me :)

Steam Rollers! Ooooh aaaah!!!

"Is anything on besides election coverage?"
Drew walks Bailey.
Or is Bailey walking Drew?
Drew had a BIG day today! Our street got paved so tons of trucks were driving around. He was glued to the window checking out the action so I took him outside and we watched the workers pave our entire street - that was no short show! Drew pointed at all of the trucks and repeated "chuck, chuck, chuck" which sounded a little more like "clock, clock, clock" today. Maybe he was trying to tell them to speed it up since we needed to hit the mall for Mother's Day gifts. The trucks were still there when we got home so we watched them pave another street as well. The workers were tickled at how excited Drew was so they offered to let him see the trucks up close. Very sweet. I thought his day couldn't get any better but I was wrong! Our neighbors new swing set was installed and they invited us over to play. Drew climbed a ladder to the fort section of the swing set like he'd done it a thousand times. Pretty scary if you ask me since he doesn't understand danger yet. He played till after 7pm before I realized he hadn't had dinner yet. Oops! We had a couple of beers and I guess it slipped my mind. Bad Mommy! Drew didn't mind at all because he was having such a large time. After 20 more trips down the slide and a good half hour in the swing, I was finally able to drag him inside for dinner and a bath. It was way past bedtime so he'll probably sleep late and we'll be running behind for Little Gym in the morning- again!

"Chuck, chuck, chuck!"

My Mom, sister, Whitley and I.
We didn't plan to all wear pink!

Drew shows Whitley that ducks "quack quack."
Drew and my cousin Stephen take a brake from their golf game.
Drew and Whitley aren't quite sure about Uncle Ralph's beard.

My Mom is back and forth between Cristie's house and ours and this weekend she's been with us. Fun! She's gotten a taste for how much Drew enjoys playing outside. She also witnessed Bailey with the bubbles which I have to get on video soon! She goes crazy for them and acts like a puppy!

My Aunt Mary and her family came over this evening for a cookout and celebration of cousin Melanie's graduation from UNC. Way to go Mel! Drew was thrilled to have guests and had a ball playing with my cousins Stephen and Melanie. They were so sweet to him!

Drew's vocabulary is growing fast! His favorite new word is "truck" and he does such a good job saying it! Luckily, we see lots of trucks around our neighborhood since there are a few houses under construction. My Mom brought him a book filled with pictures of different types of trucks. He points at each one repeating "chuck, chuck, chuck, chuck" and seems to favor a cement truck over the rest. His other new word is "bird" which is tough since it's another "B" word we have to try and understand. It's hard to tell whether he's referring to a ball, Bailey, bubbles, balloons, bells (Little Gym favorite) or bird!

Funny Friday!

Drew discovers ketchup. He kept dipping the fries and slurping
the ketchup. Kind of gross! He thought the paper Chevy filled with his grilled
cheese was really cool!
Drew gives the "customer in training" cart a spin around Harris Teeter.
Drew stole Grandma's sun visor!
Drew sports his new pj's. The boxer shorts are hilarious!
We had tons of laughs today! It just seemed like funny things kept happening. I was talking to one of our neighbors when her kids asked if they could play with some of their toys in the water. She filled a tupperware crate from her garage with water and let them have at it. It wasn't long before both of them were stark naked and getting in the crate! I told her it made a great redneck pool and we just laughed and laughed. It was the most ridiculous sight! The fun ended when one of them sat on the edge of the pool, it tipped over and the water poured out. My neighbor asked to borrow our jogging stroller for a philanthropy walk tomorrow and when I took it over there Bailey jumped in the basket at the bottom. She knows that's her spot so it didn't phase me but the kids thought it was hilarious and pushed her around the backyard. Bailey gave me the "rescue me now!" look but everyone was having so much fun that I made her suffer for a few minutes. Then I walked back home to find a man leaving my front lawn. Bailey was trailing my heels so she walked toward him barking. He jumped back about 5 feet like a mountain lion was about to attack him. Guess her size and fangs scared him. Then he looked at me and with all seriousness asked if she was a Basset Hound!!! It took all I had not to respond with, "of course not, can't you see she's a Golden Retriever?" but I politely corrected him. Isn't a miniature Dachshund a dog most people recognize? Kind of like a Beagle or a Lab or even a Basset Hound? Anyway, he was just dropping off a notice informing us that our street will be paved next week. George's Mom came to visit today and brought Drew lots of cute clothes. When I opened the striped pajamas with boxer shorts we about lost it! They are so silly and cute and Drew was proud to wear them! Drew wearing the sun visor and pushing his very own cart around the grocery store brought us many laughs as well! A funny Friday it was!

Kissing Cousins!

Drew's friends Lauren and Aundrea came over for a treat. We had a little mix up with the bibs!
Drew on the putting green!

Drew kissing Whitley!
Drew and I have had a very nice and busy week. Tuesday we visited my Uncle Mark in Raleigh and Drew terrorized his lovely home. Uncle Mark pulled out Lego's for Drew to play with but Drew continued to obsess over a crystal chess set on the coffee table. Unreal! We left before Drew broke anything so hopefully we're welcome back again! Wednesday Drew and I went on a breakfast date. We had to drop the car for an oil change and check-up so we walked to a great breakfast spot. We got way too much food but managed to eat most of it. Drew did serious damage to a plate of home fries. That's my boy! I spent the afternoon tidying up in preparation for my Mom to visit. Drew and I picked her up and surprised her by going inside instead of just pulling up. She had the biggest grin when she came down the escalator and saw Drewby! She spent the night at my sister's so Drew and I went over there today to hang out. Drew greeted Whitley with endless kisses as usual! We went to lunch at a sports bar that had a putting green. Drew just happened to have his golf clubs in the trunk so that worked out perfectly! He totally gets the idea of golf and we got a kick out watching him.
